We shine a spotlight on NOAA’s citizen science projects

This summer the Office of Education is highlighting projects that empower the public to contribute to our understanding of climate, weather, oceans, and coasts.

NOAA has a rich tradition of supporting citizen science. This tradition is being carried on through a portfolio of projects fostered and supported across the Agency. These projects have interesting stories to tell.  Observations from people on the beaches of Southern California are being shared by scientists and city leaders working on climate change. Volunteers are extracting valuable data from ships’ logs dating back to the 19th century. We are telling these and other stories as part of our “Summer Spotlight on Citizen Science.”

Please visit the NOAA Education and Outreach Facebook page to read, like and comment on these stories.  You may even learn about a project you would like to contribute to!
