Alaska salmon roundup - Purse seining is an important method of taking salmon in the deep, swift waters of Alaska. Salmon moving near the surface aresurrounded with a wall of netting, which is supported by corks or floats. Lines are then drawn in the lower surface of the net to purse it into a baglikeshape. The fish are then brailed out of the net. (Image credit: NOAA Central Library Historical Fisheries Collection)
