Reginald Fessenden, inventor of a transducer that converted electrical energy to sound energy while transmitting and sound energy to electrical energy whilereceiving, at work in his laboratory. Fessenden was a major developer of oceanacoustic instruments following the sinking of the TITANIC, during WWI, andfollowing the war years.
