Description
Scarlet prawns caught by BCF ship OREGON II during explorations for newshrimp grounds off northeastern South America. This large deepwater speciesis widely distributed on the continental slope between 300 adn 1,000 fathoms inthe Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. These depths are well beyond thereach of present-day U.S. shrimp trawlers.
