Description
To aid conservation of marine species, the eggs of cod, flounders, pollock, and other groundfish are stripped by the USFWS from ripe fish taken bycommercial vessels. They are then fertilized and returned to the sea. However, only a small part of the total catch is so handled. (Image credit: NOAA Central Library Historical Fisheries Collection)
