Figure 45. Rung bathometer, designed by Captain George Rung of the DanishMeteorological Institute. It was a new type of pneumatic sounding device basedon the principle advanced by the physician Kristian Prytz, also a Dane. It wasconsidered an advancement on the Thompson tube.
