Figure 13. Ekman piezometer - In 1904 Vagn Walfrid Ekman of Switzerland, amember of the Central Laboratory of Christiana, was tasked with studying thecompressibility of sea water in relation to salinity and temperature. He devised a new model of piezometer, first used in 1905 and first described in 1908. Its most important readings were from the PRINCESS ALICE II in 1906.
