Description
A good example of one of the many active hydrothermal chimneys (commonlyknown as black smokers) that occur at the NW caldera site. During earlierNZAPLUME cruises, the detection of heat and various chemical elementsemanating from chimneys such as this enabled us to locate numerous hydrothermalvent fields along the Kermadec Arc.
