Description
This map was drawn from Smith's map by Edwin Hergesheimer of the CoastSurvey and photographed by George Mathiot and D. Hinkle of the Coast Survey.Hergesheimer produced the famous Slavery Map and constructed a topographicmap of the Lee-Custis Plantation, now known as Arlington National Cemetery.Smith was perhaps John Smith, an assistant in the Coast Survey.
