Chief Petty Officer Charles D. Kearse, Chief Electronics Technician on the C&GS;ship EXPLORER. He rose to become head of the Electronics and EngineeringDivision of the NOAA Office of Fleet Operations in the 1980's and wasinstrumental in helping modernize much of the NOAA fleet.
