Description

Commander Mike Bernacchi (right), commanding officer of the nuclear-poweredattack submarine USS Alexandria, and a shipmate join NOAA's 200th celebrationfrom atop the world, after the submarine sail broke through the ice at the North Pole. The submarine was there with a Royal Navy submarine for Ice Exercise2007 in support of a University of Washington ice camp in the Beaufort Sea.
