Digital terrain model of the MONITOR with 1/4 meter resolution. This image wasderived from high-resolution multi-beam bathymetry. This is illustrative of thelimitations of high-resolution vessel-mounted multi-beam sounding systems. Thedeeper the water for a given beam width, the lower the resolution as the beamsspread out geometrically from the surface.
