St. Paul is the larger of two villages on the Pribilof Islands, a governmentreservation managed by the Fish and Wildlife Service for the protection of theAlaska fur seal herds of about 2,900,000 seals and protection of huge flocks ofgulls, murres, auklets, and other birds which nest on the islands.
