Description

A young western Pacific gray whale breaching off the coast of Sakhalin Island.Gray whales are divided into two populations: a western population whichsummers in Russia and winters in China: and an eastern population that summersin Alaska and winters in Baja California. Note the extensive scarring or rakemarks from killer whale teeth.
