The remains of the Coast and Geodetic Survey Steamer PATTERSON - one of thegreat ships of the USC&GS.; See: image theb0376 . This ship had been sold in1919 and was being used as barge when lost near Cape Fairweather in November1938, within twenty miles of its first survey which was done in 1885.
