Description
Profile of the head of the pontellid copepod Pontella securifer. Light passessequentially through 3 separate lenses and then hits the photoreceptor cells.This male copepod has one antenna that is bright orange and modified for grabbing females, while the other antenna is transparent. Two additional eyes arevisible on the dorsal(top) surface of the copepod, each with a small red lens.
