Ring of Fire 2006 Expedition. Acidic liquid carbon dioxide bubbles rise out ofthe seafloor at NW Eifuku volcano. To avoid destroying camera lenses andplastic fittings on Jason, the vehicle kept a safe distance from the rising CO2bubbles. The inset at the upper right shows a few of the liquid CO2 bubblesphotographed from a safe distance.
