High-speed plankton samplers are used aboard the USBCF vessel MURRE II todetermine changes in distribution and abundance of zooplankton. These smallanimals are important sources of food for young salmon once they enter saltwater. The distribution and abundance of plankton is partially controlled bywater temperature, salinity, and ocean currents.
