Bluefin tuna taken from subsurface waters with longline gear duringexploratory fishing by the BCF vessel DELAWARE. Although explorationsshowed this species to be commercially abundant seasonally during the summerand fall in the Northwest Atlantic, an intensive commercial fishery has yet tobe developed.
