The small male terrapin rates considerable respect as father of a family of 4 to 6 females which produce over 100 fertilized eggs each per year. If the females are separated from the male they will continue producing fertilized eggs for 3years. The male eats considerable seafood for his size and has wives over 50years old that produce as many eggs as the young ones.
