The Northern Water Snake - Nerodia sipedon sipedon - a common, non-venoemouswater snake. Often mistaken for the Eastern Cottonmouth or Water Mocassin, Agkistrodon piscivorus. The known range for the latter does not extend furthernorth than the Great Dismal Swamp.
