The first-order Fresnel Lens that graced Assateague Lighthouse from 1867-1961.The copper shaded the people of Chincoteague and other island communities to the west from being illuminated by the light as well as assuring that mariners didwere aware of danger bearings when the light was eclipsed from view. Thislight is located in the Chincoteague Museum.
