Captain Tunis A. M. Craven, U.S.N., worked on the Coast Survey for about fifteen years prior to the Civil War. Was skipper of the TECUMSEH which was sunk by amine in Mobile Bay at the beginning of the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864. Hedied in this battle.
