The soil at the dam removal site is tested for possible contaminants to preventleaching or erosion into the stream bed when removing the dam. The site is alsobeing searched for any significant archeological remains before the finaldigging begins. The scientists and archeologists determined through the testingthat it was safe to proceed with the dam removal.
