Description
Figure 38. Pettersson and Nansen water bottle for obtaining water andtemperature observations. This type of bottle had concentric layers ofinsulating material for keeping the samples at the temperature at which it wasobtained. This type of bottle was used by Nansen on the FRAM in 1893 and alsoused in 1900 on the MICHAEL SARS in the Norwegian Sea.
