Figure 71. Brouardel coring device. This instrument was designed to obtain asample of the upper layers of sediment and the water directly above the bottom.It was designed by Jean Brouardel and Jean Vernet for studying the dissolvedoxygen in the waters next to the bottom. It was constructed by Jean Comellibetween 1952 and 1954 and tested aboard the EIDER.
