For NOAA staff and affiliates: NOAA citizen science community of practice

NOAA has  an internal citizen science community of practice for any NOAA citizen science practitioners or interested staff. The community supports and promotes NOAA’s citizen science programs. This network allows participants to share information of interest to community members. We’ve also created an internal website for communicating information as well as fostering dialogue between community members. This site is accessible to anyone with a NOAA.gov email address. To join the community of practice, contact citizenscience@noaa.gov

One of the goals of citizen science is to democratize the scientific process while fostering collaboration between scientists and community members. Historically, citizen science has not always been inclusive of marginalized or underrepresented communities. To combat these disparities, NOAA has developed several strategies and initiatives that can be integrated by programs throughout NOAA and our partners.
