NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center will discuss its scheduled monthly update to the La Nina forecast on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 11a.m. EST.
Last month, the center issued a La Nina watch, predicting the climate phenomenon is likely to develop in late fall or early winter. La Nina favors drier, warmer winters in the southern U.S and wetter, cooler conditions in the northern U.S.
La Nina is associated with unusually cold ocean temperatures in the Equatorial Pacific and changes in atmospheric pressure.
NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, the nation’s official source for seasonal and climate outlooks, updates the El Nino/Southern Oscillation diagnostic discussion on the second Thursday of each month.
