SECTION 1. THIS TRANSMITS:
Revocation Notice for NOAA Administrative Order 212-14, Use of the Internet.
SECTION 2. PURPOSE.
This Revocation Notice revokes NOAA Administrative Order 212-14, Use of the Internet, issued May 30, 2006, effective May 17,2009.
In light of subsequent developments, the information in this NAO is both out of date and superfluous. The material in the first four sections has been overridden by the E-Gov Act of 2002 and the implementing actions that followed it. The organizational entities mentioned in Section 5 ofthe NAO no longer exist and the very general procedures introduced in Section 6 have been overtaken by events.
The Department of Commerce has issued a Department-wide Internet Use Policy, at:
http://ocio.os.doc.gov/ITPolicyandPrograms/Policy_Standards/DEV01_002685.
That policy has been kept up to date and is currently being revised to incorporate the new technologies that have come to be called "Web 2.0." NOAA, through OCIO, issues NOAA Information Technology policy through its Web site at http://www.cio.noaa.gov/ and specifically CIO Policy & Programs. NOAA Web-specific policies are at http://www.cio.noaa.gov/Policy_Programs/webpolicies.html. Once the Department has completed its revision of the Department-wide Internet Use Policy we may, if necessary, add additional Internet use guidance, but a separate NAO will not be needed. Therefore NAO 212-14 is no longer needed.

SECTION 7. EFFECT ON OTHER ISSUANCES.
This Order supersedes NOAA Administrative Order (NAO) 214-100, Review of NOAA Mailing Lists, dated June 27, 1989.
