Paddle the Gulf Initiative promotes active connections between people and waterways

Paddle the Gulf aims to make it easier for people in coastal Gulf of Mexico areas to experience and connect with nearby waterways and coastal resources.

The Gulf of Mexico Regional Collaboration Team, Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, and an extensive partner network started the Paddle the Gulf initiative to share information about paddling trails, or blueways, around the region, and to support partners through events that connect people with their surroundings. These resources are available on a website designed to help people more easily get out and enjoy their local coastal waterways.  Paddle the Gulf also organized app training webinars for tracking marine debris and for identifying and locating species to equip event organizers with experiences and meaningful ways to connect visitors to their waters and coastal resources.
