Nuthan Deodhar

Director of NOAA Finance Office

Nuthan Deodhar is the Director of the NOAA Finance Office and oversees four complex divisions managing accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance and policy, and financial systems for NOAA and the Department of Commerce (DOC) customer bureaus. The Office provides advice on financial management policies and procedures and provides financial analyses on various matters to stakeholders in the line and staff offices, the CFO, and the Office of the Under Secretary.

Nuthan is a skilled executive with a proven record of leading people and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve results. She has more than 18 years of experience in financial management in both the Federal government and private sector. She most recently served as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).  As NIST’s DCFO, she provided leadership and oversight to a diverse financial management organization including financial operations, reporting, systems, budget, and data analytics. Nuthan also led, planned for, and managed NIST’s centralized operation that provides financial and systems services to seven DOC customer bureaus.

Ms. Deodhar began her Federal career at the Government National Mortgage Association, a government corporation within the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  During her tenure, she held various roles with increasing responsibility including Accountant, Internal Control Manager, Controller, and Deputy CFO.  Prior to joining the Federal government, she worked on Federal financial systems and operations engagements at Deloitte and as a financial manager at General Electric.

Nuthan graduated magna cum laude from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  She is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Government Financial Manager, and a Six Sigma Green Belt.  She lives with her husband, twin boys, and two puppies in Rockville, MD.
