Saildrone launched its newest uncrewed maritime system on January 5, 2021, called Saildrone Surveyor, from Alameda, California, which includes new sonar for seafloor mapping and a tool to collect and analyze ocean genetic data. NOAA provided a three-year grant through the National Oceanographic Partnership Program to support the development, testing and integration of sensors for the Saildrone Surveyor.
