Description
Figure 40. Aime's mechanism devised by Georges Aime in 1841 for triggering therelease of water sampling bottles. Although the records of Aime's tests of this mechanism are not available, it seems that by using this mechanism that he wasthe first to take a series of water samples from bottles strung on the samecable at a number of different levels within the water column.
