The Aquarium of the Pacific offsite link, in collaboration with University of Southern California Sea Grant offsite link and Holdfast Aquaculture offsite link, provided a foundation for more diverse opportunities to educate broader audiences about marine aquaculture. Focusing on seaweed aquaculture, the project assessed how families learn about the sector through play-based activities for young children. The activities allowed young learners to imagine they were ocean farmers and learn about what ocean farming is and looks like. In developing the activities, aquarium staff also evaluated best practices for establishing collaborative programs.
