Regional Drought Status Updates 
NIDIS and partners issue drought status updates to communicate a potential area of concern for drought expansion and/or development, based on recent conditions and the upcoming forecast.

Local Drought Alert Emails 
Sign up to get automated email alerts when U.S. Drought Monitor conditions change for your location, or when NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center releases a new drought outlook, predicting whether drought will develop, persist, or improve. 

Drought Funding Opportunities 
NIDIS and its partners offer a variety of funding opportunities related to drought early warning research across many sectors and fields, including science, education, and technology.


U.S. Monthly Drought Outlook
Issued at the end of each calendar month and is valid for the upcoming month. It predicts whether drought will persist, develop, improve, or be removed.

U.S. Seasonal Drought Outlook
Issued on the third Thursday of each month and is valid for the next three months. The outlook predicts whether drought will persist, develop, improve, or be removed.
