Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal Fast Track Action Committee

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is announcing a new Fast-Track Action Committee (FTAC) on Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal. Under the authority of OSTP’s National Science and Technology Council, the Committee will evaluate the merits of and concerns about different types of marine CDR and shape relevant policy and research on safe and effective marine CO2 removal and carbon sequestration. The committee includes experts from more than a dozen federal departments and agencies and it fulfills one of the recommendations of the U.S. Ocean Climate Action Plan (OCAP) released earlier this year. 2022 OST/SOST Opportunities and Actions Roundtable

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and the Ocean Policy Committee (OPC) Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology (SOST) is hosting an Opportunities and Actions Roundtable this Summer. The OST/SOST is instrumental in guiding the direction of ocean policy across the Federal government and has produced several reports on strategic direction for the ocean science and technology ecosystem, including:

• Science for an Ocean Nation: Updates to the Ocean Research Priorities Plan (2013)

Environmental Justice Statement

On June 7, 2022, the Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology (SOST), under the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy’s (OSTP) National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) released their Environmental Justice position statement to guide activities and investments in ocean science and technology.
